Location and operation of environmental monitoring facilities includes observation and measurement of emissions of the state of environmental media and of other ecosystem parameters biodiversity ecological conditions of vegetation etc by or on behalf of public authorities
The theme scope includes two main aspects the first is the environmental monitoring facility as a spatial object the second is the data obtained through observations and measurements taken at this facility encoded using the ISO 19156 standard This information is complemented by further administrative information pertaining to the facility and activities undertaken there such as networks the facility is part of or programmes the facility provides data to The Environmental Monitoring Facilities theme is cross cutting to environmental domains thus the generic model allows the necessary freedom to bring in thematic specific needs while keeping a shared data structure
The INSPIRE Interactive Data specification platform offers MS data providers two new applications to support in general their initial data scope “identification” task whether their dataset(s) fall under the data scope of INSPIRE or not.
The first application “Interactive Data Specifications” facilitates the use of the INSPIRE Data Specification – Technical Guidelines documents by providing means to study as well as compare selected parts of the INSPIRE technical documentation (from up to 3 data themes).
The second application “Find your scope” has been developed to support MS data providers with identification of the INSPIRE data scope that is relevant to their dataset(s) that they administer. This application is foreseen to be useful especially in situations where data provider’s datasets do not follow exactly the INSPIRE data themes /application schemas content.
The platform also provides links to useful additional resources of information (e.g. INSPIRE Registry, website etc.).
The development of the Toolkit has been supported by ARE3NA, Action 1.17 of the EU ISA Programme.
